Robinhood Stock Tokens: the most profitable company, the least invested, and the only one fixing rights

Robinhood holds $151M of stock tokens — less than a rounding error against a quarter of revenue. But it is the only major issuer publicly planning 1:1 redemption into real shares plus voting rights, and "identical rights" is exactly the entry ticket the SEC Innovation Exemption and the Nasdaq same-order-book rule now demand. It is also the fastest grower in the category, from $39.1M to $151M in 30 days.

Research

TL;DR

Robinhood is the most profitable company in this category, the least invested in it, and the only one seriously fixing the rights problem. All three are true at once, and each explains the others.

Its stock tokens total $151M. Against a company posting $1,308M of quarterly revenue and $561M of net income, that is a rounding error — less than a thousandth of the business.

Yet it publicly plans 1:1 redemption into real shares, plus voting rights. If that ships, it becomes the first large issuer to hand shareholder rights back to holders.

My read: at today's size it does not warrant attention; for what it is building, it carries the highest option value in the category. After the 2026 regulatory changes, "identical rights" stopped being a moral bonus and became the hard gate on US liquidity.

What it actually is today

The issuer is Robinhood Assets (Jersey) Limited, and the instruments are tokenized debt securities — not shares. Same family as xStocks' tracker certificate and Ondo's issuer claim: you hold a claim against the issuer, not ownership of the company.

  • Chain: Robinhood Chain (ERC-20)
  • Instruments: 190+
  • Size: $151M (2026-10-16)
  • US persons: blocked (EU entity)
  • Distribution: the Robinhood app

It also runs 2,000+ CFD-style products in the EU that cannot be withdrawn on-chain. Those are not the tokenized stocks discussed here, and the distinction matters: a token you can move to self-custody and a CFD that lives inside an app are different instruments entirely — the first is composable, the second is a brokerage product.

It is the fastest grower in the field

An easily missed fact:

Date Robinhood stock tokens
2026-09-04 $39.1M
2026-10-16 $151M

Nearly four times in 30 days. Over the same window the market went from $2.77B to $3.5B (about +26%), and Ondo from $858.6M to $984M (about +15%).

Robinhood is the fastest-growing issuer in the category, and it has barely tried. Which says something: when distribution is strong enough, a small supply-side effort moves real size. Its main app flow is not connected at all yet.

Company financials: why it can afford to wait

Metric HOOD (FY2026 Q2) COIN (FY2026 Q2)
Revenue $1,308M $1,220M
Net income +$561M −$359M
Net margin 42.9% negative
Operating margin 53.3% −9.3%
Diluted EPS $0.62 −$1.36
Market cap / P/E $80B / 142.6x —

Full-year figures are equally strong: FY2025 revenue $4.473B, net income $1.883B, revenue up 51.6% year on year.

But the point must be said plainly: stock tokens contribute approximately nothing to that $561M. A $151M token book, even at a full 20 bps take, generates a few hundred thousand dollars a year.

So HOOD's financial performance is not a scorecard for its tokenized equities business. That is the most common misreading of these comparisons — crediting a parent company's profitability to one business line. The same error appears when Ondo's $3.56B protocol TVL, mostly Treasury products, is used to size its equities arm.

What the balance sheet actually buys is the freedom to do the right thing slowly, without taking shortcuts for share. None of the others can afford that.

The real story: 1:1 redemption and voting

This is the heart of it.

Robinhood plans to support redemption into real shares and to add voting rights.

Why that matters far more than $151M:

Two 2026 rules changed the game:

  • SEC Innovation Exemption (2026-09-17): qualifying tokenized securities venues may trade tokenized NMS stock through permissioned AMM pools without registering as an exchange or ATS
  • Nasdaq same-order-book rule approved: qualifying tokenized stocks and ETFs may trade in the same order book, at the same execution priority, as the traditional share — provided the two are fungible and carry identical rights

Those last three words shut the entire offshore route out. A tracker certificate does not, by definition, carry the same rights as the share; an issuer claim carries even fewer. No matter how large xStocks, Ondo or bStocks grow, their structures cannot earn that ticket.

If Robinhood actually ships a version redeemable 1:1 into real shares and carrying votes, it moves from the offshore-wrapper race into the onshore-licensed one — alongside Dinari, Securitize and Superstate, but carrying Robinhood's user base.

A caveat: the reported five-year term and equal-rights conditions attached to the Innovation Exemption are secondary readings and should be checked against the SEC order itself. Detail at that level decides who gets through.

Two different routes back to rights

Only two issuers are working this seriously, and their methods differ completely:

Robinhood Ondo
Route 1:1 redemption into shares + voting Broadridge proxy voting
Nature Changes the token's legal character Layers proxy machinery on an existing claim
Difficulty High — requires restructuring issuance Medium — integrate infrastructure
Ceiling Could satisfy "identical rights" Proxy voting is not direct holding

Robinhood's path is harder with a higher ceiling. Ondo's Broadridge route passes votes through while leaving "token ≠ share" intact; Robinhood's redemption attacks that premise directly.

Whichever ships first may reset the pass mark for the category.

Risks and unknowns

Item Severity Detail
Plans not yet shipped High Redemption and voting are announced intentions with no timeline
Still a debt security today High Until it ships, holders have no shareholder rights
Jersey jurisdiction Medium The same offshore structure question as xStocks
US persons barred Medium An EU entity; the home market is not covered
Single chain, closed distribution Medium Robinhood Chain, its own app only
CFD confusion Medium 2,000+ non-withdrawable CFDs are easily mistaken for these
Redemption terms unpublished Medium KYC, minimum, settlement time and fees all undisclosed
No proof of reserve Medium No public PoR mechanism found

It sits at B for the same reason as bStocks and Dinari: not a weak structure, but insufficient verifiable information. The difference is that their gaps are "not disclosed" while Robinhood's is "not built yet".

What I will watch

  1. When the redemption terms are published — minimum, KYC scope and settlement time decide whether it is a real channel or another $5,000 gate
  2. How voting is implemented — direct registered holding, or a proxy arrangement like Ondo's
  3. Whether it appears on the first TSV approval list — the line between a plan and a channel
  4. When main app flow is connected — $151M came with almost no effort; connected, it is another order of magnitude
  5. When a US entity launches — an EU entity today; moving onshore is what reaches the largest market

Bottom line. On today's numbers Robinhood is a placeholder rather than a competitor: $151M is a rounding error for it, and 190+ instruments is unremarkable. But it is the only large player attacking the premise that a token is not a share — exactly as the 2026 regulatory changes turned that premise into the entry requirement.

I would not follow it for its current size. I follow it because if 1:1 redemption and voting ship, the size advantage held by the three offshore wrappers stops mattering overnight — their structures can never reach US liquidity.

Figures as of 2026-10-16 (size, instruments) and 2026-09-04 (comparison baseline, company financials); HOOD and COIN on an FY2026 Q2 basis. Regulatory terms from public SEC and Nasdaq records, with secondary readings flagged in the text. Research, not investment advice.

bStocks: Binance pipes its flow on-chain, and the cost is a casino

bStocks reached second place in four months by wiring Binance order flow straight into BNB Chain — NVDAB sees 29 times Ondo transfer count over 30 days. But the highest turnover in the category is not proof of liquidity quality: SPCXB turns over 90% a day and SNDKB fell 20% in a week. The tightest spread in the set sits on the most lopsided book.

Coinbase (Base): the smallest book in the category, and the only one DeFi actually absorbed

Coinbase holds about $7.5M of tokenized stocks, among the smallest in the top ten. It is also the only issuer whose tokens trade on Uniswap and Aerodrome, work as Aave collateral and can be borrowed against on Morpho — and "can sit in a pool, can serve as collateral" is the only differentiation tokenized equities have over a brokerage account. On that axis $7.5M says more than Ondo $984M. It also deployed 13 contracts with supply in four, the cleanest example of deployments not equalling live instruments.

Dinari dShares: widest coverage, the only US access, and absent from every size table

Dinari runs the opposite route to the offshore wrappers: US jurisdiction, a qualified custodian, direct securities, 724 instruments covering the entire S&P 500, and the only issuer open to US persons — accredited investors only. The cost is that it is small enough to appear on no size table at all. After the SEC Innovation Exemption that ceiling may lift. This is a structural piece, and it marks the data I do not have.
